Scandalous Sales

After clearing out my closet and finally getting rid of things like Hollister shorts that would be too short on a toddler (why was this EVER a trend?), I was left with clothes that I actually like and have actually worn in the past 12 months. However, I felt my wardrobe needed an update, but as I’m sure most of you guys can relate, I’ve got 99 problems and being broke is definitely one. That’s why I set myself a $100 budget to update my closet (I did it with $70). Check out what I bought, and how I got it on the cheap.

Cotton On- Total Spent: 39.97

For those of you who have been following my blog, I’m sure you’ve realized that my style is far more girly-chic than sexy. However, I’ve been dying to try out the cut-out trend without feeling totally naked. When I first saw this dress from the front I liked the girly floral pattern, but when I turned it around I LOVED the exposed back and cut-out. It was the perfect balance for me between girly and sexy. Oh, and the fact that this dress was 30% off and ended up costing $13.97 only deepened the love affair between me and this dress.

As I was cleaning out my closet I realized that I had plenty of dressy dresses, for example, every hideous high school homecoming dress, but not a lot of cute daytime dresses. This sunflower print dress was exactly what I was looking for and when I tried it on it was super flattering and comfortable. This will be the perfect dress for when it reaches 90 degrees in NYC and living in Antarctica seems very appealing. This dress was also 30% off and came to $10.47. Hell to the yeah.

cottonon pants

These pants were undoubtably my favorite purchase of the week. I really wanted to try out the printed pant look but I just wasn’t sure if I could pull it off, and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a pair. That’s when these amazing pants caught my eye. I actually wore these pants yesterday and you shouldn’t be surprised if I wear these pants every single day this summer. They are the most comfortable pants EVER and they look adorable. My jaw actually dropped at the checkout counter when she told me these were 30% off coming to $7.00. Yes, that’s right, $7.00.

My friends always joke with me that I don’t have enough “going-out clothes.” I always set out on missions to buy cute crop tops and skirts and inevitably end up with another armful of jeans and cardigans. I really liked this polka-dot crop top and I know it’ll look great with a high waisted skirt for a night out. Plus, this was also 30% off and cost a whopping $7.00. Finally a store that understands that half a shirt should cost half the price.

Aerie- Total Spent: 31.61

black aerie shorts

For those of you who follow me on Instagram (are ya getting my hints yet people?) you know that I recently purchased these Aerie shorts in the pineapple print. I loved them so much that I went back and bought them in black. I figured black will go great with pretty much any outfit, plus they’re so dang comfortable I couldn’t pass up buying another pair. These shorts were $24.95 but if you check out the website they’re currently $14.99! Get on that my friends!

aerie headband

Hi, my name is Rachel, and I have a headband addication. I love love love headbands. Even if you look at pictures of me as a baby I’m wearing a headband in pretty much every picture. I have some pretty crazy curly hair and headbands are the perfect way to tame what I call “the lions mane.” Headbands with fun patterns like this one are my absolute favorite, plus its reversible with a pink and white polka dot print on the other side! This headband was $6.99, but since it was on clearance it was an extra 60% off and came to $2.80. Can’t beat that am I right?

lilac aerie braI’ve noticed that delicate lace bras peeking out of tanks has become popular lately and I totally wanted to try the trend out for myself. I love the girly lilac color of this bra and I think it will look awesome peeking out underneath a white or black tank. This bra was originally $24.95, but since everything in the store was buy one get one for $10.00 this bra came to a mere $10.00!

I also had a 20% off coupon for Aerie which is how it all came to $31.61. So, my total for this wardrobe update came to $71.58, which included two dresses, a pair of pants, a shirt, a pair of shorts, a headband, and a bra. I was able to keep the price low by shopping sales at both Cotton On and Aerie. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for sales like these to keep your wardrobe packed and you wallet heavy!

Do you have any tricks for getting great deals? Any trends you wanna try out, but don’t want to spend money on? Let me know guys! Your feedback helps me write better posts!
